Saturday Snowstorm
A big snowstorm blew through Yosemite between Friday night and Saturday afternoon. It seemed to keep everyone away.

40th Birthday
My 40th Bday present to myself: a morning hike to the base of the cables of Half Dome that have been taken down for the season. For those who wonder why I don't hand over hand them to the top- I'm scared. The bottom picture is a nice snapshot of sub dome, or FU Dome as Rojo colorfully calls it.

Like Somalia, we are a Government shut down
If your looking to get silly, you better go back to from where you came/ Because the Government doesn't need you, and man they expect the same.
The Last Days of the Chappel Tree
The famous Chappel tree still had some color in it yesterday when I took these snapshots. I let the wind move around during the longer exposure to get the impression of flames. I like the way it turned out in some of the postards. Next year we will have to come up with something different. Enjoy.

Mt Whitney Again
Another trip up Mt Whiteny on September 23rd- this time with Rojo, Summer, Kate, Cassidy and Matt. Perfect weather and no wind. Camped and walked the streets of Lone Pine for two days before the hike, and then drove down to Upland the day after to meet up with Laura and Holden. Loved it.

Mt Whitney
I went up the Mountaineers Route, the Friday of Labor Day Weekend, August 30th with Matt and Nick from Soul Cal. We took the footsteps of John Muir, and like John Muir I did not take a camera. I only took memories. But I did have a nice camera in basecamp and took some snapshots from our beautiful campground- site number 19, Lone Pine Campground comes highly recommended to everyone- unless its the day I am trying to get it! Ha! Enjoy.

Big Day, or Quadruple Bi-Pass
A big day, a 36 mile loop for me and Jason on August 12th. We had been planning the trip all summer and finally the day came and went and we kept walking for 13 hours until we stopped. It was completed. Over Parker Pass, Koip Peak Pass, Gem Pass, and then Donahue Pass. It was a challenge and beautiful. We said we would probably never do it again, and anything over 30 miles should become 2 days of walking. But now, after a week, we could probably do this size hike again next year. Thanks Rojo! The snapshots are out of order, and I accidently deleted the first memory card with memories of the first 12 miles. I am holding up my hands in the 24 position in honor of the summit of Donahue Pass and celebrating the fact that we had reached mile 24, and had only 12 miles left that were all downhill into Tuolomnee. Enjoy.

Nevada Falls
Here's a nice snapshot from the John Muir Trail above Clark Point of our buddy Nevada Falls. This was from the other evening when I actually brought my camera out withe me on a hike. Enjoy.

McCabe Lake Day
We took a chance on heading out to McCabes Lakes north of Glen Aulin two Sundays ago and made it without raindrops. Leaving the lake at noon, we headed back the way we came, both looking for Shane and looking to make it through the meadow and down the trail without the gathering dark clouds unleashing any rain, thunder or lightening on us. The thunder stayed to our west and the rain stayed to our right. We all met and left from my house in the Valley at 530am and arrived back to my house at 530 pm. 12 hours, including driving and a stop for an hour at the lake and a half hour at Glen Aulin and hiking 26 miles or so. Not too bad for a group of 4. Enjoy.

Vernal Falls Tonight!
After work tonight, I went up to Vernal and Nevada Falls from 6-8pm. On the way down, I searched out a good vantage point and took some sweet shots! And nobody was at the Falls railing to be in the picture on June night around 730 pm! Amazing! Enjoy.
