Afternoon Snapshots

A day off in the park with the wife is a good thing. We spent the afternoon giving the little one in the belly a good long walk all around and took some photos for the other blog as well: Laura and Ron, with Child (or www.renspie.blogspot.com). Jason was with us and I almost named this post The Lion, the Witch and the Rojo, but there was no witch. But somehow there always is a Lion. Someone passed us at Mirror Lake and said how good it must be for the baby to have its first walk in the park. We just agreed and didn't mention the previous seven months of walks in the park since we live here. Like this morning on the trail down from Yosemite Falls and I'm running down and someone asked if I was timing it- I said no and was gone. It's just easier that way. But I was timing it. 1 hour and 18 minutes to the top. Today's postcards were from the walk, just fun images and a reason to take pictures. Enjoy.

Yesterday Morning, This Evening

Two different weather days, 2 different pictures. The top snapshot was taken yesterday morning while walking to work and you see everyone out taking pictures as the sun rises around and above Half Dome. The clouds were beginning to move into the valley resulting in the storm that brought snow to the valley today. The bottom postcard is from tonight's Sunday hike to Columbia Rock, this time rain or shine. After the 30 or so switchbacks you finally cross the stream and hike level for a minute or two- but only a minute or two, then back up more switchbacks. So much fun after a full day of work. Enjoy.

Backyard Boogie

It was a backyard boogie kinda day. Which means we just kinda moved all through our backyard terrain: moving past waterfalls, through slot canyons, up slabs, bushwacking and getting somewhere slowly, following use trails, crossing ridges and going on closed trails. We tried to go up the backside of Mt. Broderick and then circumnavigated Liberty Cap, crossing a lot of the landmarks in the top postcard. We then found ourselves at Nevada Falls and came down the Muir trail. Legs were scraped and hands were used. A good day of boogie-ing throughout Yosemite, as (maybe) DynoMike would call it. Enjoy- we did.

Sunday Night (6 O'clock, Columbia Rock)

I sing the title in my head to the tune of Bob Marley's song "Three O'Clock, Road Block." Every Sunday, a small but growing group of people gather to meet at the Yosemite Falls trailhead and proceed to march up the one mile to Columbia Rock for fun and for training- then proceed somewhere to go and have a beer. Its a way to get out at least once a week and see the sights of Yosemite from on high. Tonight's postcard is one such view. Enjoy.

Double Header

We just got back from our double header (baseball lingo and I don't even watch baseball), Rojo and I. Today was spent trying to get in shape faster, hiking a little further, leading us to the double waterfall day. We thought it could be a triple waterfall day, but like TLC sang "don't go chasin' waterfalls." The link up was the top of Yosemite Falls, then the top of Vernal Falls and then we were done. Now its shower time and then a nice walk with the wife over to the pizza deck for dinner and a beer. Then hopefully wildflowers for Laura and I tomorrow. Enjoy these couple of snapshots from the trails.
