Wish They All Could Be California Storms...

...or maybe not always. One week without electricity and half the time living in a hotel is only part-time fun. We had to seek (what Dylan called) shelter from the storm. But Yosemite is open again and we are all back to work (though its true we were at work while it was closed) and here we have a few snapshots to offer. I also have a new camera, but only a few new postcards to show for it. Coming soon....more photos. Enjoy these taken after the storm for now...

A 3 Minute Walk

It began raining last night and finally stopped raining this afternoon. Walking across the street to check my mail, I could hear the roar of Indian creek behind our house. I was doing a lot of nothing on the computer all day, and knew I had to get outside on my day off to take a photo (as per the resolutions), so I wandered up the creek and brought along my camera. And as spring grows closer and the warm days bring more water, more postcards with the various rivers, creeks, and waterfalls will be shown. Yosemite really does make it easy to go out for just a short amount of time and take an okay postcard.

Sunny Days of March, or Resolution #6: Complete a Business Plan

Just a quick note, and I'm done. Or as the title of the vinyl record says: "One False Move, or I'm Gone." Out and about in Yosemite today almost brought me near the spot I envisioned for the photograph I was looking to take. But its for another time- something they call the future. This postcard will have to do for those looking, a standard view of Sentinal Rock if your standing in the spot I was today. Enjoy on the web, for this will not be printed in my postcard venture.

Cobblestone Sidewalk

Today was one of the first beautiful, sunny, and warm days of the year. And this afternoon might've found me covering all the resolutions (revolutions?) made so far: take a walk with Laura- check; smoke no cigarettes- check; read some- check; take a new snapshot and post it- check. Its all coming together as my new Zodiac sign promised. Thank God. While I find the color postcard above to be more to my likening, I did include the B+W version because I'm reading Ansel Adams' biography at the moment. Enjoy.

Where's Frank Lloyd Wright?

I didn't leave the house til evening (I was busy doing stuff), but I always have a few stand-by images floating in my head for these days when I still want a new, fresh snapshot but have limited time or motivation. One goal is to take some architectural photos of some of the unique (sometimes dated, but charming) buildings within the park. This one happens to be across the street from our house, and the popular nightclub in the winter. Its not exactly Frank Lloyd Wright's style, but the Loft is kind of modern in that 50s-60s ski chalet/Palm Springs vein. Anyways, enjoy the colors, concrete, and triangles involved in this postcard.

P.S.
The funniest thing I've read in a while is the review to this shirt sold on Amazon. I don't normally do this, but I had to include this:

This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that's when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to 'howl at the moon' from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn't have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn't settle for the first thing that comes to him.
I arrived at Wal-mart, mounted my courtesy-scooter (walking is such a drag!) sitting side saddle so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon. She offered me a swig from her mountain dew, and I drove my scooter, with her shuffling along side out the door and into the rest of our lives. Thank you wolf shirt.

Pros: Fits my girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women
Cons: Only 3 wolves (could probably use a few more on the 'guns'), cannot see wolves when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark.
