Stable-Ice It, Don't Criticize It!

A nice, fun, pleasant, mellow couple hours were spent walking some familiar landmarks, doing the always enjoyable and scenic Vernal Falls loop. This time it happens to be winter (with warm, sunny days) and certain parts of the trail are closed. Making our way up to Clark Point we found little snow until near the end of the switchbacks and only against the wall. From there we had to "stable-ice it" (a new verb, sung to the Peter Tosh tune, with the line "Even Rangers wear them") having put Stabilicers on our tennis shoes so we had little cleats to complete the circle down the Mist Trail steps. Today's postcard actually comes from today: a view from the trail, a look down a mountain, a good time. Enjoy.

Spring-Like

Today is just a quick post of a snapshot from last Wednesday, taken from the vantage point of Mirror Lake. A hop, skip and a jump from the exact spot 1 million people every year take the exact same snapshot, actually. We've been enjoying spring-like weather for the past week, and on that day, at that exact moment a great wave of clouds blew by making the otherwise ordinary picture somewhat less ordinary (but I agree- not extraordinary). But I wanted to put something up and keep the momentum going. Today there is this postcard to enjoy. Tomorrow may be pictures from last night's live music. Thank you, and enjoy the postcard.

The Pimps of Joytime

Last night brought a full moon and 2 bands to Yosemite for live music: the Staxx Brothers and the Pimps of Joytime. Both were great, but all the prostitutes of fun stand out on the corners for the pimps of joytime. My wife stayed home and rested, while I got to go take pictures, dance and drink beer- I promise I'll make it up with dinner and roses. It was a good time, and yesterday was a good day. And there's a postcard of the moment. Enjoy. Pretend its Woodstock.

Rojo's 21st

We're back at it, with a little R & R- Rojo and Renspie. The weather was so nice the last couple days, and since we were off of work, we pushed aside all notions of drinking too much alcohol in favor of going outdoors and walking uphill. Yesterday we found ourselves behind Mirror Lake and going up the ever pleasantly graded Snow Creek trail. I do have a snapshot to prove it, but it won't be posted til tomorrow. Today was so pleasant we continued our sojourn up the equally level Yosemite Falls trail to the Columbia Point lookout. Its been awhile since my feet have touched a trail, and felt good. Both trails were snow free and had a few people on them, reminding me that I really can't see the conditions from inside my front window... at home... on the couch. Today's postcard is a nice winter shot of Mt. Clark with Liberty Cap and Grizzly Peak in the front in gorgeous B&W. Be on the look out for something tomorrow.

P.S. If Rojo went to this spot 20 times last year, then today would have been the...? Get it?

Happy Old Year!

Okay, so this is the new year, and I'm only ten days behind. But check out this oldie, but goodie I dug up out of the archives- vintage from last week, January 5th, 2011. I did go out and snap some postcards of our hometown here in Yosemite Valley this year, I've just been too busy doing nothing to sort through them and post them. On one day off we did go to the big city of Fresno for the wife's pregnancy check-up and to receive the first postcards of our little child to be (a sonogram). The other day and time's I've been working or trying to finish reading "The Possessed" by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, or watching television or eating candy. And besides it's been awful cold out. Enough excuses; its the new year and you should start seeing at least a new snapshot every week. Enjoy this one for now. Thank you.
