Liberty Cap Views
So we had a great day today, Rojo and I. First, we pushed through our hangovers we thought we didn't really have up the very wet Mist Trail. Then, bushwacked our way between Liberty Cap and Mt. Brodwick through the beautiful slot canyon and up the gully behind Liberty Cap to the summit. Then ended the day back down the steps at Nevada Falls down to Happy Isles. A circumnavigation of the only non-psychedelic Liberty Cap in existence. A day fueled with protein from Cliff products. A day where sometimes the rock just ended, and bush began. Then maybe the first day in history were we sat at the bar and didn't consume alcohol. All in all a good day. Today's postcard is a glance down the John Muir trail from the summit. Enjoy whomever looks.

one week later...
So much for the subtitle 'a daily showing.' I thought this would be like a matinee for folks, an afternoon viewing option. Instead, lately, its become a weekly showing- and then closed for reconstruction for 6 days at a time. Oh well. Last night I did get off the couch and head over to the infamous moonbow at the Lower Falls, coming home at 1am. Boy is it hard to focus in the dark. Now I understand why photogs will stake out a position and then stand for hours in the same spot. If I could've focused earlier in the daylight and then had it ready 12 hours later they might have turned out a little sharper. Or I could have put down my beer and focused better; maybe next time. Here's one postcard that turned out- though I'm sure its the same shot as all my neighbors to me on either side. And another snapshot of the line up of people at the bridge. Next time I'll be more ready and know what to do better. Starting with: bring more than one beer! Hats off, enjoy.

Hang Ten
A picture from yesterday that was postponed til today because it was my wedding anniversary party after work. Basically, as the Blues Brothers said: "we put the band back together." Everyone old school came over who was at the wedding- fun. And so much fun, I am now posting the snapshot from the early morning hours of a Sunday morning at Glacier Point. On the weekends and early, you can hang glide down towards the valley. Why not? It seems safe- you and gravity and wind. And it creates a stunning, unique photo op. Everyone enjoy.

Lightsource
Laura and I had a great day in Oakhurst today picking up a wedding anniversary cake for ourselves- 2 years on Sunday. Then stopped at Wawona for a beautiful evening dinner out on the veranda. Leaving there we got stopped for the construction, which we knew was coming- the drive out was down HWY 140, but coming back it had to be HWY 41. Anyways, we listenedto a Ryan Adams show from 2000 and I took a couple pictures. So today's (or really tonights, or really this mornings because its 12:30am) postcards both have one thing in common- a light source. One coming from the sun, another coming from man. Enjoy

John Cougar Mellencap?
So all I can think about is a certain lyric and the photos I took and didn't post. It goes like this: "And the walls come crumbling down/ and the walls/come crumbling, crumbling..." The Coug and a bad hotel photo are all I can see. But instead I'm posting this- an inside postcard of the famous bar with the most famous bar staff. There it is. Everyone enjoy this one.

June Floods
For the past few days the meadows have become rivers. With all the warm weather, the usual spring flooding has begun in June. This is actually a snapshot from Monday. Nothing new the past three days, and nothing will be posted again until Sunday. Tomorrow its off to the East Side for a bachelor party weekend of camping, hiking, and maybe somewhere in there drinking a beer or two in honor of Jim. Enjoy for now, see you soon.

Dogtown
Finally after a week and a half of nonstop work, a chance to run down the 4 Mile trail after a day of work. No chance to stop and take any pictures, though the meadows look great and flooded from up above. Maybe an ark will appear soon. Maybe not. Finally on the flat walk home I took out the camera and carried it across my shoulder the way I see everyone else do. Some um-memorable shots were taken, then at the last minutes, right before home- BAM. Got it. And for those who can see the stance and the walk, Pappy is in front of the bus. Welcome to stardom Pappy. Enjoy.

Good Old Glacier Point
So there it is- more Glacier Point snapshots. If you read yesterday's post you would know what I'm talking about. However, the clouds were good. And what makes it special is the title and what lies behind it.: Good Old Glacier Point. These snapshots were taken from a really good view in America, which is really the Old Glacier Point railing. That's why no one is blocking the view, because no one is there. So enjoy from far away. Or maybe stop there one day. The choice is yours.
p.s. A big hello and shout out of love to my wife Laura, out of town in Soul Cal still.

Choose Your Own Adventure, Chapter 1
It's late, and I wasn't going to post anything because today was too busy and no photos were taken. This though is from within the last week, and though I liked it then, I must've liked another picture better. But I decided to keep the daily theme alive and show something today: what you get is a choice of color, or B+W. This may be the last snapshot for awhile from the Glacier Point vantage, as its getting a little too much airplay- not in a bad way like all the music on the radio, but in the way that I don't always need to listen to Ryan Adams or Wilco each time I put some vinyl on the record player- there's lots else out there. Anyways, enjoy everyone. And if my wife's looking at this from Soul Cal- I love you!

There is No Helicopter
Pretend it's right at closing time where you work, and your work overlooks this view. You hear a report that a helicopter is about to fly into the canyon you're looking at. Then it is closing time and you have to go back to work and lock the store door. And you miss it. But you took some photos, and this is a photo blog, and you have this to say and post: Grizzly Peak rising from the center and a unique view of Vernal Falls. The other picture that had a chance of being posted will show up another time, when the angle of view gets decided better. Besides who wants to see gas pumps anyway.....Enjoy.

Got Granite?
What's the Frequency, Joni Mitchell?
It all started with a simple bet about the title of an R.E.M. song. Now it has led to a photo with a distorted title of an R.E.M. song. It reminds me that Counting Crows also covered the Joni song this photo refers too. For those who don't know, the title is "Big Yellow Taxi." Sing the chorus. Get it? Enjoy. (This photo is a day late.)
