Two Views of Half Dome, including Superman's Son
So today we have two pics with the most famous half-a-dome in the world. Both were taken yesterday (still always a day behind), one from as the shirt says "the most awesome view on earth"- Glacier Point; the other truly from a yard with one of the best views on earth- Ahwahnee Meadow. Nathan Erikson's photo almost looks like a fake movie set backdrop- and besides how many times can his picture get published this week! (Good job.) Anyways, enjoy once again. More to come.

Return of the Jedi-Like
Its old! I mean the picture...A photo from last week when the loop opened and you could go up the Mist Trail and down the John Muir Trail finally after crossing the Nevada Falls footbridge. Yesterday I got lucky and had a fresh photo of the day. Today not so lucky. Tomorrow, maybe lucky. The Glacier Point Store opens to the public tomorrow and everyone is happy. Enjoy.

The Majestic Mt. Clark
So these are some of the first views from Glacier Point. The high country is covered in heavy snow and here it is June in a few days. I heard the Panarama Trail is 99% snow free, though and hopefully I will find out soon. Today we have a beautiful mountain named after Galen Clark, situated above and south of Merced Lake. It's the view from the register for those working at the Glacier Point Store. Enjoy. (It opens up Friday.)

Anbody Wanna Play?
So, this picture was taken Sunday, yesterday. I had some time after work before the Lost Finale gathering began to go out, then was able to put pictures on the computer but had no time to post. So we have this image today. The lonely life of the tetherball in Yosemite. Does anybody even know where this is? I'll give you a hint: it's in someone's front yard. Now go out and play a game...

Oldie But Goodie
Sorry for no photo yesterday, and once again no photo today. Instead there is this oldie but goodie from the past. The weather here in the valley is dancing between wanting to rain/snow or remain mostly cloudy. Its the weekend before Memorial Day and maybe this photo from Fairveiw Dome with Spike Mike leading the way will allow some sunshine into our lives and get the Tioga Pass to open sooner rather than later. Tomorrow I promise (I hope) I will be out and about and get a shot of something in real time. It may be a traffic jam.

The Opposite of the Word Hidden
What to do today? You can only go to Vernal or Nevada so many times in one week- just like you can only have Mac n Cheese so many times in one week before you need a break. But you still want some exercise. So, maybe take a look at some photo ops at Mirror Lake. Than decide to make a fast break for the mysterious Hidden Falls, spend 15 minutes there, then a quick 25 minutes back to the bike parked at Mirror Lake. End up with an enchanted, mythical looking shot at the employee famous Hidden Falls. There we go, and off to work- after my Mac n Cheese lunch. Enjoy.

It's a Rainbow Full of Sound...
So its getting crowded these days on the Mist Trail, but its still fun. Here's a shot from above and around the corner from the top- you see the gathering of folks at the waterfall's edge and also the end of the steps in the lower right corner. The other shot is from way above as well, looking straight to the base of the falls. Always rainbows, always mist. Enjoy.

The Sound of Music
So there's color coming back into last year's burn area of Foresta. It should be a place to explore more soon. Looking down into the meadow and barn, and across the sea of clouds it could be ready for someone to burst into song at any moment. Here's the picture taken today. Enjoy. (And there's houses for sale down there, I believe.)

Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks)
Here's the video from yesterday's trip down the steps at Vernal Falls. For those who may get nauseated, stop now. Its about 3 minutes long. The title is an old Grateful Dead song. Enjoy it (or not).

1974
1974 really only equals 1973 pt. 2 A photo that was taken yesterday, ragged and faded that must of fallen out of your parents photo album back in the day. I'm having trouble adjusting what I want to post today and it's getting late, so tomorrow maybe a double header. A new photo, plus today's VIDEO! We'll see. Enjoy this one, as they say, for what it's worth.

1973
It could almost be an old photo in your parents old photo album. Of the time they traveled up the old Mist Trail and stood at the railing at Nevada Falls. Those almost colors, slightly faded. Probably in a pair of Levi's corduroys, maybe an old Wrangler pearl button shirt. Or maybe that's what I was wearing yesterday. And 1973 is simply the year I was born.

Earth, Air, Water...
..but no fire. A new day and a new photo. This is down by Cascade Falls, I guess you'd call it 'the runoff', or simply 'a stream'. Tomorrow its back to Vernal and Nevada and maybe something good we have never seen. Tonight it looked like it might rain a little but then got nice and blue. Hopefully tomorrow too.

Freebies
So, the main goal is to get out everyday and take pictures. Today was not that day. We went to a beautiful wedding, though. If I ever post something that was not from the day I will let you know. So, these are not from today. However they are from within the last few days. Freebies if you will. Enjoy everyone.

Welcome Winter, Again
So sorry for nothing happenin' yesterday. Laura and I went to the smallest big city in CA- Fresno (big shout out to K-FED!). We didn't arrive home until 1am this morning. The two pictures I wanted to take I kept in my memory as we drove past. It was blizzard conditions driving on HWY 49 with 4WD and 15MPH speeds for a short while approaching midnight, then rain only in the river canyon and into the park. We woke up to slight snowfall covering the Valley again. A quick gambit around and we found a nice set up for today's posting. Bus stop #11 at Senitnal Bridge. I don't know why no one wants to sit on the benches on the right- so warm and inviting looking. Enjoy. I looks like it may want to rain a little again tonight.

The Mother of All Cathedral's
Its a rainy Mothers Day in Yosemite, but between the downfall of water I was able to get out. Nothing sounds better floating across the meadow than acoustic Cardinals coming from the car and staring at Middle Cathedral. Get it: Cardinals and Cathedral. Anyways, it was a good day to hear "Carolina Rain" and others. The link to the show is below:

Sometimes There's Old Treees
There is sometimes old trees. This one is by itself, and though you can't tell, it would take at least two people spread around it to, perhaps, touch. I walked around the valley, then ran into friends and started with some beers. Lots of pictures were taken, lots of pictures of water taken (though none used this time), so we have this one for now. Enjoy.

500 Steps Or More...
So today we find ourselves at the Mist Trail gate like Saturday, only the gate is open....So of course we proceed legally up it, and a very Misty Trail we find it. I still don't know if raincoats for .1 mile of wet conditions warrant any of that business, but everyone else seems to. After the steps it becomes quite hot again, and everyone's dry in minutes. I had some shots of Liberty Cap from Nevada Falls, but they weren't quite patriotic enough this time. Maybe another. Here's a photo with a theme that we will continue to pursue: the happiness of the trail. All those steps, all that uphill. Anyways, coming down I passed my good buddy DYNO-Mike, Eye of the Beholder photographer of glory. Also, renown disc jockey- just don't ask for any Parliament/Funkadelic- HAHA.

Cinema Bridalveil
With nothing much good so far today with photos, and the wife saying "You better do something"- we did something. Put a little Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon by Devendra Banhart on the stereo, hop in the car and a few minutes later find yourself at Bridalveil Falls just down the street from your own backyard. A little cinema effect to cover up the mess-ups, and post it. Tomorrow, take pictures again.
Monday, May 03, 2010
Once again I found myself out on the trail with Bryan S.- today it was up the 4 Mile Trail until the closed gate, and quick jaunt scrambling up the talus towards the wall at the base of Sentinal Rock. A few photos were taken and this time there will be two shown: the whole of the roaring Yosemite Falls across the valley and a closer look at Lower Yosemite Falls. Enjoy whomever is looking at this....
Sunday, May 02, 2010
Took a jaunt up the Snow Creek trail to the rim with a few friends. Lots of cascades and water running on the trail, though we all know soon it will become the driest dirt sidewalk in the park. One small turn and you hit this spot 2/3 of the way up. By July we'll have to rename it the Sun Creek trail. Enjoy. Me and the wife are off to an early Cinco de Mayo party...

Nevada Falling
It's begun. I will try to post a picture every day, taken on the actual day. Today was a trip up Vernal and Nevada Falls, a somewhat busy Saturday on the trail...not to many great pictures, but more ideas gathered. How do we post Yosemite shots that we all haven't seen before? We'll find out as this progresses....
